LEARN THE RULES X

The sound of the letter X is different according to the place it occupies in the word.
When it is between vowels or at the end of word, is pronounced as ks: éxito, exacto, tórax.
But when it is at the beginning of word, is pronounced as s, which often creates doubts by writing the word: exterior, expresar.

EXAMPLES: Exprimir, expresamente, exprés y expreso.

RULE Nº. 2
Almost all words beginning with the syllable ex followed by group pl.
EXAMPLES: Explicar, explanada, explotar y exploración.
EXCEPTIONS: Espliego, esplendor y todos sus derivados.

RULE Nº. 3
Words beginning with XENO- (foreign), XERO- (dry, arid) and XILO- (wood).
EXAMPLES: Xenofobia, xerocopia y xilófono.

Words beginning with the prefix EX- (outside, beyond, a post that has been stopped).
EXAMPLES: Excarcelar, extremo y exministro.
